Aturan Tambahan dalam Spionase: Jejaring atau Kuasa
Center for Security and Foreign Affairs Universitas Kristen Indonesia (CESFAS UKI) in collaboration with the Department of International Relations Universitas Indonesia (UI) held a seminar titled “Additional Rules in Espionage: Networks or Power, a Discourse”.
The event took place on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 09.00 – 11.00 AM, at Universitas Kristen Indonesia.
Professor of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science/Head of the S1 Program at Universitas Bakrie, Prof. Hoga Saragih shared his perspective from the technology side, especially intelligence technology in business, biometric technology, and the relationship between humans and technology.
“Intelligence technology is now not only used for security purposes by the state, but also in business,” said Hoga.
Furthermore, Hoga presented various examples where personal data is often disseminated by individuals themselves unknowingly.
“When biometric technology, which encompasses everything used and held by individuals, can become their unique identity, individuals actually become more unprotected,” Hoga continued.
Therefore, Hoga emphasized the importance of awareness of technological risks. “Because everything related to information can be a tool for espionage that can be used for various interests, including business interests,” he said.
Amnesty International, an organization focused on human rights, recently released an important report on the use of surveillance tools by governments and non-state entities in various countries. The Amnesty International spyware report highlights serious concerns about privacy and increasing human rights violations due to the use of this surveillance technology.
For your information, this seminar aims to discuss spyware issues and emphasize the importance of regulations that can accommodate national security and civil rights in a balanced manner.
With the presence of various experts and practitioners in this field, it is hoped that this seminar can provide a real contribution to formulating better policies in the future.
In addition, this seminar also highlights the importance of balanced regulations between national security and civil rights.
Through in-depth discussions and diverse perspectives from experts and practitioners, the event successfully provides new insights and opens up constructive dialogue on the future of espionage regulations in Indonesia.
Thus, Indonesia can face the increasingly complex security challenges in this digital era more prepared and responsive.
