President Prabowo Subianto from Indonesia was warmly welcomed by Indonesian citizens upon his arrival in New Delhi, India, late on Thursday night. Nadine Ardiani Chairunisa, an Indonesian student studying Marketing Communication at Amity University, eagerly waited since 5pm to greet Prabowo, accompanied by fellow student Demas Fadel Anggara. Despite some delays, they described the experience as exciting and nerve-wracking. Other Indonesians present like Rajendra, Marvell, and Adyatama were grateful for Prabowo’s personal gesture of shaking hands with them upon arrival. They expressed hopes for a successful working visit in India and a promising future under Prabowo’s leadership.
Prabowo’s visit not only symbolizes a fresh start in bilateral relations but also celebrates the 75th anniversary of diplomatic cooperation between Indonesia and India. Before leaving Jakarta, Prabowo expressed pride in being invited as the chief guest at India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations, considering it a great honor for Indonesia. The participation of Indonesian TNI troops in the event highlighted the strong ties between the two nations. The visit also includes scheduled meetings with Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss enhancing cooperation on various strategic issues.
