President Prabowo Subianto is confident that Indonesia will be able to achieve net-zero carbon emissions, making it one of the first countries to reach this milestone. In a video conference discussing renewable energy development and oil production expansion in East Java, Prabowo highlighted Indonesia’s efficient energy generation capabilities and the reduction of costly logistics chains. Energy independence is crucial for Indonesia’s vision of national sovereignty, with plans to launch 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to provide clean and reliable energy throughout the archipelago.
The collective effort of ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil has been commended by President Prabowo for supporting Indonesia’s energy transformation. While acknowledging the country’s significant oil and gas reserves, Prabowo emphasized the importance of renewable energy, particularly solar power, in ensuring energy self-sufficiency for communities across Indonesia. Solar energy has been highlighted as a beacon of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands, paving the way for a brighter and more sustainable future for Indonesia.
President Prabowo’s optimism for Indonesia’s future is evident as the country harnesses renewable energy sources to become a leader in achieving net-zero emissions.
