President Prabowo Subianto has unveiled an ambitious plan to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG) to reach 82.9 million children across Indonesia by the end of 2025. This initiative has been highlighted as a national priority and urgent matter during his speech at the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB). Prabowo shared a touching anecdote from a recent visit to Central Java, where the overwhelming demand for the program was evident.
During his trip from Solo to Klaten, Prabowo witnessed schoolchildren, teachers, and residents lining the streets requesting nutritious meals. Touched by their plight, he immediately instructed his team to accelerate the program’s implementation with a target of reaching 20 million children by mid-August. The ultimate goal is to reach 82.9 million children by December 2025.
Prabowo emphasized the importance of proper management of public funds to ensure that resources are used efficiently. He revealed that the program has garnered global attention, with other nations closely monitoring Indonesia’s efforts. Despite the challenges, Prabowo remains optimistic about achieving the set targets and is prepared to be held accountable for the program’s progress.
The Free Nutritious Meal Program is a crucial component of Prabowo’s broader vision to address child hunger, malnutrition, and educational disparities. By providing children with the necessary nourishment, he aims to empower them to learn, develop, and thrive regardless of their background.
