President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, visited Sentosa Funeral Home at RSPAD Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta, to pay his final respects to the late Kwik Kian Gie, a renowned economist and esteemed national statesman. As he arrived, Prabowo was warmly welcomed by Kwik Kian Gie’s family, who then accompanied him to the room where the deceased was laid to rest. With reverence, Prabowo honored Kwik Kian Gie, known for his advocacy of Pancasila-based economics during his lifetime. The influential economist and political figure passed away at the age of 90 on July 28, 2025. To Prabowo, Kwik was more than just an economist; he was a friend and mentor who provided invaluable insights into the country’s development. Reflecting on their personal bond, Prabowo emphasized the significant role Kwik played in offering advice and guidance over the years. Even in his final days, Kwik remained actively engaged, sharing messages and recommendations with the President. Prabowo expressed his deep gratitude for Kwik’s wisdom and contributions, recognizing the loss of one of Indonesia’s exceptional figures.
