Prabowo Subianto, the President of Indonesia, recently made headlines by taking the Whoosh high-speed train from Halim Station in Jakarta to Bandung, West Java. Dressed in a cream-colored outfit, Prabowo’s arrival at the station at 7:45 p.m. local time drew excitement among the crowd. He warmly interacted with commuters and waved to onlookers as he made his way to the platform.
Before boarding the train, President Prabowo posed for photos with the Whoosh crew and departed for Tegalluar Station in Bandung at 8:00 p.m. His visit was in preparation for his attendance at the 2025 Indonesian Convention on Science, Technology, and Industry (KSTI) at Sasana Budaya Ganesa, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) from August 7 to 9. At the convention, he is scheduled to give a keynote address alongside Nobel Laureate Konstantin Novoselov and Minister of Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto.
The theme of KSTI 2025, “Economic Growth and Equity Through Mastery of Science and Technology,” aims to be a key platform for discussions on both national and international levels. The event will bring together experts to explore the role of science and technology in driving economic development and ensuring equity.
Prabowo’s choice to travel on the high-speed train and engage with the public exemplifies his commitment to promoting technological advancement and knowledge sharing. This event signifies a significant opportunity to further explore the intersection of science, technology, and economic development in Indonesia and beyond.
