The recent visit of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to Singapore for the National Day celebrations has left a strong impression on Indonesian students studying in the country. Meeting the President made them feel a deep connection to their homeland, almost as if they were back in Indonesia. Four students from the Singapore Institute of Management, Belinda, Donata, Daniel, and Ardi, were among those who had the opportunity to interact directly with the President. It was more than just a casual encounter for them; it served as a touching reminder of their national identity. Meeting their country’s leader while being abroad brought a sense of home to foreign soil.
Belinda shared, “This experience was truly memorable—it made me feel so much closer to home, especially with Singapore’s National Day Parade and meeting Pak Prabowo.” The students expressed their gratitude for the chance to meet and shake hands with President Prabowo and other members of the Kabinet Merah Putih who were present. Donata expressed her happiness at meeting President Prabowo again, stating, “I had met him before, but never this closely.” Another student added, “Meeting the President in person is a rare opportunity—especially since it was my first time ever meeting a President.”
