Two high school students from Papua, Franciscus Sakfiris Pahabolisage and Stincek Laramiapa, recently shared their excitement and pride in being selected as members of the Pasukan Pengibar Bendera Pusaka (Paskibraka) for Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, where they raised the flag alongside President Prabowo Subianto. Franciscus, representing Papua Pegunungan Province, and Stincek, representing Papua Tengah Province, expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such a prestigious event. They both underwent a rigorous selection process that tested their physical abilities, with Franciscus admitting to the challenges of adapting to the demanding training. Stincek, on the other hand, shared her commitment to delivering a stellar performance during the flag-raising ceremony and making her country proud. Despite initial doubts, both students are thrilled to be part of the Paskibraka team and have emphasized the importance of teamwork, unity, and camaraderie throughout their training. While nerves are present ahead of the big day on August 17, the students are more excited and joyful about the opportunity to meet the President and represent their province on a national stage.
