President Prabowo Subianto has made a commitment to steer Indonesia’s state budget (APBN) towards a zero-deficit position, as he presented the 2026 State Budget Bill at the Parliament Complex in Senayan. The draft budget for 2026 sets state spending at Rp 3,786.5 trillion, with projected revenue of Rp 3,147.7 trillion, aiming for a fiscal deficit of Rp 638.8 trillion. Prabowo emphasized the importance of efficiency measures to reduce the deficit and expressed his ambition to achieve a deficit-free state budget in the future. He called for courage in eliminating budgetary leakages and urged the support of all political forces in Indonesia. The government will focus on creative and innovative financing to reduce reliance on the APBN and ensure the budget remains flexible to cushion global shocks. Prabowo highlighted the need to boost tax revenues, enhance investment climate, provide fiscal incentives for strategic economic activities, and manage natural resources efficiently for the people’s prosperity.
