Thariq excitedly exclaimed, “Masyaallah, there is batik fabric.” Meanwhile, Aaliyah opened the gift from President Jokowi and his wife with a smile, then read out the message that was given to them.
“Congratulations on starting a new life, may you become a family filled with happiness and blessings. Many people sent us fabrics, thank you. Thank you, Mrs. Iriana,” read the letter that Aaliyah read out loud, leaving both Aaliyah and Thariq impressed by the presence of the president on their special day. “Masya Allah, it is truly an honor, our wedding (was attended by the president),” Thariq said.
“Ya Allah, Masyaallah indeed,” Aaliyah responded. Besides the fabric, the couple also received a type of document with Jokowi’s signature as a witness to their marriage.
After opening the gift from Jokowi, the married couple then took a cream-colored paper bag. It turned out to be a gift from Megawati. “This is from Mumu, from Bu Mega,” Thariq said.
Inside the paper bag was a red box. When opened, it also contained fabric but with a different motif as it came from Papua. “Fabric from Papua,” Aal, as Aaliyah is affectionately called, exclaimed with joy.
